Paco Rabanne Returns With an Edge
By ERIC WILSON
An Overview:
'Manish Arora showed that he was the perfect fit as creative director for Paco Rabanne with its Spring 2012 collection. For inspiration Mr. Arora took note from the brands archives. Using four to five looks from Paco Rabanne himself Mr. Arora utilized his past experience from his label parlaying the two into this seasons collection. Since founding designer Paco Rabanne was known for his incorporation of metal into fashion Mr. Arora updated the Rabanne vision with metallic snakeskin squares, foil, and metal pins. The blogs author described the dress made of snakeskin squares as a "second skin" (which I think look like a pixelated robot) and the dress made of metal pins as having appeared like a "fabulous porcupine". Arora also used foils in reds, silver, and greens to accent paper dresses. To incorporate the brands history of metal work Mr. Arora went as far as presenting the invitations to the show on a metal square. Although many pieces in the show were not for the ready-to-wear consumer Mr. Arora assured the author that more commercial versions of the collection do exist.
