OlsenLove (Blog #8)

Over the past few years I have found myself (begrudgingly) interested in the style and fashion of the Olsens. Comparable to my past interest in shows like "The City" and "The Hills" I feel slightly embarrassed to admit that I like most of what the Olsen twins have done within the fashion business. I am, of course, not speaking of the past "lines" done for Walmart from their younger days, but lines such as "Elizabeth and James" and "The Row".  Little Michelle Tanner(s) have done quite a great job of re-branding their image over the years as well as cultivating their creativity.  Below is the Elizabeth and James Fall 2011 look book.  I enjoy that it is focused on the clothing and doesn't involve location backdrops and props. It is a short, to the point, and informative look at the line.

WindowLove (Blog #9)

I absolutely love what Net-A-Porter.com did for their Fashion's Night Out 2011 pop up "window shop".  Placing scannable pictures of merchandise on the windows along with hidden prizes was such a creative and smart window display. I only wish I would have seen this in person.

BrandnewLove (Blog#7)

I have to admit to find this trunk show I just searched bing videos for the phrase "trunk show".  I am glad I searched for a while and found this fantastic video.  Hoss Intropia has definitely found a new fan in this girl.  In researching this Spanish label I kinda have a brand crush now. Take some time and peruse their page: Hoss Intropia.  Setting the trunk fashion show in a dinner party setting is fantastic and refreshing to see. I feel this is a absolutely great way to introduce a collection.

McQueenLove (blog#6)

There are countless examples of Alexander McQueen's genius and creativity.  So many shows that were breathtakingly beautiful and many other more disturbingly gritty displays. (see below link and video)
McQueen 2001

This following runway show from F/W 1999-2000 is definitely one of my favorites.  I love the winter scene, the music, the make up, and of course the clothing.  I think its beautiful when designers bring the outside in and involve nature in their shows. I recommend checking out the other videos of this show (part 2&3) the models even ice skate. As always McQueen's shows prove to be inspirational and spectacular.

FallLove Blog#5

I absolutely love the pale pastels that Doneger had forcasted for Fall/Winter 2011/12.  Although I am not seeing a ton of pastels thus far I think they will come along nicely for Holiday and Winter.  Many retailers are staying with the classic goldenrod, burnt orange, and deep reds that are typically fall.  They stray a bit by adding a pop of abnormal color such as sapphire blue. A few of these examples are at Zara:
